Chicago Bears: Game vs Ravens could get very ugly
The Chicago Bears are getting ready to play the Baltimore Ravens. Things are not going well for Chicago this season. They had quarterback drama to start the season between Andy Dalton and Justin Fields.
We all knew that Fields needed to be the guy but it took a few weeks for Matt Nagy to make that decision. Now, they sit at 3-6 and the future is clearly the concern for this organization right now. Developing the quarterback is at the top of the list.
The Ravens are one of the very best teams in the AFC right now. They sit with a 6-3 record right now. Winning their division and making a run in the postseason is something that they believe is possible right now. With Lamar Jackson, who has established himself as a top quarterback in the league, anything is possible.
Jackson has to be very excited to play the Bears. The skill that makes him the most special is his ability to be a mobile quarterback. He can make throws from time to time but running the ball makes him so dangerous.
The Chicago Bears are in big trouble this weekend against the Baltimore Ravens.
This skill is something that should be a nightmare for the Chicago Bears right now. For one, they are going to be without Khalil Mack. He is going to be out for the year due to an injury. That is bad news for this game especially because Mack would help the defensive front contain Jackson. Without Akiem Hicks and possibly Eddie Jackson, it might be a long day for the active players on defense.
Unless every player that is playing steps up beyond expectations, Lamar Jackson is going to have a fun time running around and being a great playmaker. Unless the offense does its job to keep up, it could get very ugly on the scoreboard.
Update: Lamar Jackson is not playing due to illness, not COVID-19.
Without Jackson, Baltimore is significantly less dynamic. The Bears’ defense is still banged up but having that elite playmaker under center would have made a huge difference for the Baltimore offense. Hopefully, the Bears can take advantage.
Speaking of the offense, they are going to be without Allen Robinson. Justin Fields hasn’t found his true chemistry with Robinson yet but he is still valuable on the field. The mere threat of him as an option is something for the opposing defenses to worry about so taking that away is never good.
Chicago probably has no chance at the postseason but they don’t have a first-round draft choice either. There is no point in tanking so trying to find a way to win some games is not a terrible idea. Losing might also lead to big change so it is a win-win. If they are able to take down the Ravens, it is going to make a statement but don’t count on it.
