The Chicago Bulls are in a great spot. They played a fantastic game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night to extend their record to 10-4. The 121-103 victory was one of their most impressive wins of a season that has been full of impressive wins. The Lakers were without LeBron James but there are still plenty of very good players there.

The win also completed a two-game set in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. On back-to-back nights, they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers. It was a great way to bounce back after taking a beating to the Golden State Warriors last week. Chicago should be excited because this is the most exciting Bulls team in a long time.

On Sunday night, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine carried the offense while they played some very good defense against the Clippers. They competed with a very similar effort against the Lakers one night later.

In this game, however, Lonzo Ball was much more impactful offensively. He took the 10 points he had against the Clippers and almost tripled it against the Lakers as he finished with 27 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. The trio of Ball, LaVine, and DeRozan combined for a whopping 91 points which is outstanding.

This was Alex Caruso’s return to play against the Lakers since leaving them to sign with the Bulls. LeBron James, even though injured, was there to greet his friend and give him a hug. Los Angeles also gave him a video tribute to celebrate his return. Clearly, they enjoyed him which makes his signing with the Bulls that much sweeter.

Caruso, surprisingly, didn’t score a single point in the game. He did play some really good defense which is why he played for 34 minutes. He did have six rebounds and five assists on his stat line which is pretty good. He is one of those players that you win championships with.

The Chicago Bulls are looking great after sweeping the Los Angeles teams.

It is hard to think about the Bulls in that vein but they are very good. Most teams don’t go from bad to championship level but the Bulls are certainly looking like a tough out right now. It would be nice to see this going as the ceiling doesn’t seem to be clear right now.

They are back in action on Wednesday night when they head up from Los Angeles to Oregon to take on the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers have gotten off to a rough start this season but there is plenty of reason to believe that they will turn it around soon.

We can only hope that they wait until they play the Bulls to do that. The sweeping of the two Los Angeles teams should serve as plenty of motivation going forward. There aren’t many teams that can beat this team when they are fully healthy and playing their game.
