We went into Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers wondering how the Chicago Bulls would bounce back from a tough loss to the Golden State Warriors. We know that the Warriors are the best team in the NBA right now but the Bulls are coming. With the Clippers on a seven-game winning streak themselves, the Bulls had a tough task ahead of them.

The Chicago Bulls put on a defensive clinic to win the game 100-90 and end the winning streak for the Clippers. It was an outstanding game all around that allowed the Bulls to improve their record to 9-4.

A reason that the Bulls are off to a great start is that everybody has contributed to the success. There are a lot of good players on the roster that need to carry their weight to continue helping the Bulls move forward as an organization.

One of those players is DeMar DeRozan who was signed as a free agent during the offseason. The signing wasn’t one that made a lot of headlines outside of Chicago as many believed that it wasn’t going to be a good addition at all. Now, he looks like a legitimate MVP candidate.

DeMar DeRozan was outstanding for the Chicago Bulls on Sunday night.

In Sunday’s win over the Clippers, DeRozan was the offensive MVP while the rest of the team played a defensive gem. In his Los Angeles homecoming, had 35 points which led the way by a fair margin, five assists, and seven rebounds. It was a great day for the now MVP candidate as he provided plenty of offense.

Zach LaVine deserves credit for his offensive game. He added in 29 points of his own with two assists and eight rebounds. These two on the same team have created magic for the Chicago Bulls attack all season long so far. Hopefully, they can keep it up because things aren’t going to get any easier as the year goes on.

There are a lot of great players in the NBA so saying that DeRozan will be the MVP might come off as silly. After 82 games, you can expect the usual suspects to be in that conversation to take home the honor. However, if DeMar DeRozan can keep playing like this through to the end, he will be in that conversation for sure. It would certainly be fun to watch.

One note from the Clippers game that needs to be mentioned is the play of Alex Caruso. He had his first start in a Bulls uniform and he was magnificent. When we talk about the defensive gem that was this win, Caruso was right in the middle of it.

With all of these guys playing as they did on Sunday night, it is no wonder why they defeated a red-hot Clippers team. They are back in action tonight in the same building against the Los Angeles Lakers. This should be a lot of fun seeing if DeRozan and company can keep it going.
