The Chicago Blackhawks started the season 1-9-2 before firing Jeremy Colliton. Now, since naming Derek King as the interim head coach, they have gone 2-0-0 against the Nashville Predators and Pittsburgh Penguins who are both pretty good teams. Now, they have a chance to turn that two-game win streak into a string of wins.

It all starts tonight against the Arizona Coyotes at home. They are the worst team in the National Hockey League in every way. They aren’t bad like the Hawks were bad earlier this season either. The Hawks were underperforming in a bad system but the Coyotes actually have an atrocious roster. They are a really long way away from being a playoff contender once again.

This game is going to be Chicago’s Central Division-leading 15th game of the season. However, they will have a few days off after this game. They won’t be back in action after this until Wednesday which means that they will have four full days off. It is a great way for them to regroup after a very hard start to the season.

As mentioned, the Coyotes are bad. The Hawks, if they play their game to the best of their ability, should be able to take care of their business against them. Of course, if they take time lightly, they will get creamed but don’t expect that under Coach King. Winning would make it three straight.

That game on Wednesday is their first-ever trip to Washington state to play the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken, although not as bad as Arizona, aren’t that good either. They aren’t having the same level of inaugural season success that we saw the Vegas Golden Knights have a few years ago. If the Hawks can defeat them, that would make it four in a row.

After that potential four-game winning streak comes a very tough trip through Western Canada. There they will play the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks who are all good teams. It is hard to see the Hawks coming out of that on a seven-game winning streak. For that reason, it would be good to see them take care of their business against the Coyotes and Kraken who are very beatable.

The Chicago Blackhawks have a legit chance to string together a few wins.

The Hawks have dug themselves into a big hole. Going into the season, there were expectations that they were going to be a bubble team hovering around NHL .500. If they do that the rest of the way, that would be awesome but the significant hole that they dug would not be overcome. They need to go well over .500 the rest of the way if they want to be in the postseason.

Thinking like that can’t be the way right now. They just finally won their third game of the season so it has to be one day at a time. It starts tonight against those Coyotes who are going to be at full effort playing in Chicago. Hopefully, this does turn out to lead to that string of wins.
