The Chicago Bulls have a lot of impressive players. When you think about their 7-3 start, the conversation begins with stars like Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball, and DeMar DeRozan. Nikola Vucevic is having a slow start for his standards but he will figure it out. Outside of those four, there are some younger players stepping up and making an impact. One of them is Ayo Dosunmu.

Ayo was a big key in defeating the high octane Brooklyn Nets on Monday night by a final score of 118-95. He had 15 points and 7 rebounds in 20 minutes of game time. He didn’t record an assist but he sure helped the Bulls pull off a big win over one of the legit contenders in the NBA.

He was the Bulls’ second round (38th overall) pick in the 2021 NBA Draft after starring at the University of Illinois. He helped the Illini to a number one seed in the March Madness NCAA tournament which ultimately led to being drafted. It is nice that he made his way onto the Chicago Bulls as a local kid from Chicago.

It may be a while before Ayo is a full-time starter on the Bulls but his rookie season is off to an impressive start. He seems to make an impact in pretty much every game as a supporting player for the stars on the team. We don’t know how far he will take it in terms of becoming a star but so far so good.

Ayo Dosunmu has had an outstanding start to his Chicago Bulls career.

If he can keep up this play coming off the bench, the Bulls will be in good shape. As mentioned before, they are 7-3 to start the season which is as good of a start as anyone could have asked for. They have legit hopes of being a playoff team when this season comes to an end. If Ayo and all his teammates keep this up, they will be.

A lot of teams might not be as good as the Nets but there are still some very tough games coming up for the Bulls. They are back in action on Wednesday night as they host the Dallas Mavericks before embarking on a five-game road trip to the west coast. Of course, there are some elite teams to deal with in that part of the country.

If the Chicago Bulls want to be a “better than average team”, the stars and depth players need to continue being great. Ayo Dosunmu looks like someone who can lead the way in terms of depth players. The story of his journey to play for the hometown team is quickly turning him into a fan favorite so him playing well makes it even more fun.
