The Chicago Blackhawks have been in a tough spot all season long. They are a very bad hockey team that went all of October looking for their first win of the season. They didn’t however as they ended the month 0-7-2 which is just pitiful. Luckily, they kicked off November with a big win over the Ottawa Senators by a final score of 5-1.

It was a great performance by many different players. Of course, Marc Andre Fleury made 29 saves on 30 shots to earn the big victory. He was outstanding throughout the game and deserved to win. It was a long time coming for him as he starts to get used to playing for this team.

Brandon Hagel had a shiny performance as well with two goals. It was really good to see a depth player have a game like that because those are needed to collect big wins. Jonathan Toews also had a monster game with three assists which was a great way to get the captain going.

However, the story of the game was Patrick Kane. It was his first game back from COVID protocol and it was big. He led the way with a hat trick on the night and he also chipped in an assist. A four-point game is exactly what the Blackhawks needed to get their first win of the year.

The Chicago Blackhawks need their best players to play like it if they are going to be successful.

Seeing their two stars in Toews and Kane combined for seven points was proof that these guys can come up big when the team needs them most. They did that in this game and saw results. Combine that with Fleury’s outstanding performance in the net and you will win on a regular basis.

Nobody knows what the future is for this team (on and off the ice) but this was a good start. The Ottawa Senators are a good young team but they are a team that the Blackhawks should be able to stay with. That is why dominating them a little bit was really good for the momentum going forward.

The Hawks need Patrick Kane. He is an elite offensive player that is still capable of being one of the league’s leading scorers. A night like this was proof of how valuable he really is. He isn’t going to have four points every night but he surely can help them win more than they have. Hopefully, November is the turning point.

The Hawks will have their next chance to win on Wednesday night. They have the 8-0-0 Carolina Hurricanes which is going to be one of the biggest tests that they will face all season long. Beating them might be hard but you never know what happens.

It would be nice to see them compete hard and give themselves a chance against a really good team. The Hawks already played them once in their barn so now they will have a chance to redeem that 6-3 loss at the United Center.
