Chicago Bears: 3 contenders to trade with at the deadline
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears should make a trade with the New Orleans Saints
No one expected the New Orleans Saints to look this good without Drew Brees and Michael Thomas. While the latter is supposed to be back soon, Brees is retired and the Saints turned to Jameis Winston instead.
After the Saints likely lost Winston for the season on Sunday, they will be looking at starting Trevor Siemian for the time being until Taysom Hill can come back from injury. Somehow, Siemian and the Saints beat Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past week, but they will probably need some quarterback help if they are to make a serious run.
The Bears could trade Andy Dalton or Nick Foles to New Orleans, giving them a veteran to come in and help ease the pain of losing Winston. Dalton would obviously be the best-case scenario for New Orleans, and would be an upgrade over both Siemian and Hill.
Chicago could also entertain dealing Allen Robinson to the Saints, who have had a myriad of wide receivers this year as they’ve played without Thomas. But, once Thomas returns, both he and Robinson could be a lethal duo for whomever the quarterback is in New Orleans.
The Saints’ defense is good enough to compete for a Super Bowl, but New Orleans just needs to ensure they keep their offense up to snuff.
