There are a lot of bad things surrounding the Chicago Bears right now.

The Bad: The Soldier Field Turf

It was in very rough shape. Then again, when is the field not in good shape in late October? It should never have to be like this but it is.

The Bears not having control over simple things such as the grass they play on is one of many reasons to get the design and financing process for the possible new Arlington Heights stadium moving forward.

The Soldier Field grass has been a joke ever since they ripped out the AstroTurf. The Chicago Park District refuses to put in a suitable playing surface. Instead, The Park District has tried to do small fixes to the Soldier Field turf for a couple of years. Still, it is the same issue over and over again.

The grass just is not up to being a suitable NFL field. Fields’ incredible touchdown run was all the more amazing because he was slipping and sliding during half of the run because of how bad the turf was.

The turf monster keeps costing the Bears plays. Fields had another early run that should have gone for more but was limited because of the slick grass.  The NFL needs to step in and force the Chicago Park District to put in a suitable playing surface safe for everyone.
