Chicago Blackhawks: Other NHL teams may be impacted by allegations
The Chicago Blackhawks have been the topic of conversation on Tuesday. It is for all the wrong reasons and it has nothing to do with the fact that they are 0-5-1 and a disgrace of a hockey team on the ice. It has everything to do with the fact that they have been dealing with sexual assault allegations from an incident that happened in 2010.
Stan Bowman and Al MacIsaac are already out and more might be on the way. This might also impact other NHL teams which is very sad news. The findings have concluded that both Joel Quenneville had Kevin Cheveldayoff knew about the issue in real-time but didn’t do much about it.
Coach Q is one of the most beloved figures in the history of Chicago sports but that might change real soon. Nobody should be even slightly surprised if the Florida Panthers decide to fire him as head coach. They are 5-0-0 and legit Stanley Cup contenders and he is a huge reason why.
Cheveldayoff is the general manager for the Winnipeg Jets and is very good at his job. However, for the same reason as Coach Q, might be let go because of these findings. Stan Bowman is an example of someone who was let go for the exact same reason.
The Chicago Blackhawks investigation findings may impact other NHL teams.
If Jay Blunk, Stan Bowman, John McDonough, or Al MacIsaac ever want to come back to the NHL, it will require a meeting with the commissioner ahead of them taking any new jobs. That right there is a sign that Quenneville and Cheveldayoff might be in trouble. It is sad to see some of these names involved with this but the investigation’s findings are not pretty at all.
This is a big story that is going to be a stain on Chicago’s dynasty run from 2009-2017. It is also going to impact some other teams across the league over the next few days. Nothing is guaranteed as far as anyone else’s job titles but nobody should be surprised if it does.
The Blackhawks just need to make sure that things change going forward. This is a disgusting report and one that many people should be ashamed of. Hopefully, things start to change for the better going forward.
