The Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins could work out a deal to get them a quarterback.

The Chicago Bears would trade Andy Dalton to the team that gives them the best offer but it probably isn’t going to be much anyway. They also might not even trade him but we are talking about it because it would be smart to do so. The Bears haven’t been a smart organization for a long time now so you can’t expect much. Another team that hasn’t been very smart is the Miami Dolphins.

For a long time, the Miami Dolphins have been a hot destination for Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans. Watson is, when on the field, one of the best quarterbacks in the National Football League. However, it is hard to see a team giving up assets to get a guy who might not get to play because of off-the-field troubles.

They also have done a very bad job with their handling of Tua Tagovailoa. He has dealt with some injuries but he has certainly not been a bad quarterback since coming to the NFL after an elite career with the University of Alabama. He just never fully clicked in Miami and could use a change of scenery. His backup is Jacoby Brissett so if they trade Tua, they might want an upgrade.

Dalton is probably an upgrade over Brissett so the Dolphins might consider making a deal like this. It is up to them to decide if they think they have a chance this season. At 1-5, the answer is probably not but they need someone to play the position for the rest of the season. Dalton seems like a guy who would be a good fit there right now and potentially a job for next season.

There are no rumors connecting any of these teams to Dalton trades and there really aren’t any rumors of a trade at all involving him. However, it is clear that the Bears should try to get rid of him now for an asset while they still can. We know Justin Fields should be the full-time guy going forward and trading Dalton away would make sure that happens.
