The Chicago Bears would be very helpful to the Cleveland Browns right now.

The Chicago Bears should be happy with any pick that they are offered for Andy Dalton. However, he could be put in a good position with the Cleveland Browns. He would go there and be the backup for Baker Mayfield. However, Mayfield is currently dealing with an injury so Dalton would have to play a little bit.

That is probably good news for Dalton. He signed with the Bears with the intention of being the starting quarterback and now he is the backup. Once Mayfield is healthy, he would be the backup again but at least he would be the backup on a team that has a chance to win the Super Bowl. Either way, it would be a better situation than in Chicago.

Even if Mayfield comes back, there is no guarantee that he will remain that way all season long. The Browns are being shown that they need a backup plan in case of the injury bug bites at the wrong time. Dalton isn’t a superstar but he also isn’t as bad as some Bears fans who want Justin Fields make it out to be. He is a perfectly capable backup on a team that has serious aspirations of going far in the postseason.
