Trading these players would be in Chicago Bears’ best interest

It is difficult to describe the current state of the Chicago Bears. Six games into the 2021 season, the Bears sit at 3-3.

Many fans are of the attitude that it could be better, and it could also be worse. Their record is pretty much who they are right now — an average team, overall.

Going into the year, expectations weren’t necessarily high. In year four of the Matt Nagy experiment, the Bears are likely preparing for life without their current head coach. He was given another season, but so far, Nagy’s weaknesses have not changed.

The defense has been a bright spot, but Ryan Pace failed to give the secondary much help and that’s been abundantly clear. It looks like, through six games, the Bears would have been better off starting fresh at both head coach and general manager. For now, the organization can choose to start preparing for a better future, regardless of who is leading the charge.

Before the 2021 NFL trade deadline, the Chicago Bears should look at setting themselves up for a more successful future.

I do not believe this year is about making a playoff push. While it would be a pleasant surprise, that’s not what the 2021 campaign is about. Right now, it has to be about developing Justin Fields and looking ahead to what the Bears could be in future seasons under his leadership.

The Bears will have holes to address following this season — some of those areas are already a weakness and will only continue to reveal themselves as this year goes on.

There are a handful of players the Bears should try to trade before this year’s deadline, and for good reason. Whether or not they could be a big part of the 2021 season is irrelevant, as we’ve already established this season won’t end with a Super Bowl victory — and likely not even a playoff berth.

Three players, in particular, should be moved before this year’s deadline, starting with one we already know is on his way out.
