The Chicago Blackhawks should have never traded for Alex Nylander in the first place.

The Chicago Blackhawks have allowed Stan Bowman to make a lot of bad trades over the years. One of the worst ones was when he sent Henri Jokiharju to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Alexander Nylander. Jokiharju hasn’t turned into a superstar or anything like that but he is much more capable of turning into a good NHL player than Nylander.

He is also a defenseman which means that if he does reach his potential, it will be much more valuable than whatever Nylander brings. Unfortunately, Nylander hasn’t even come close to reaching his potential in the NHL.

He has a tremendous amount of skill but he hasn’t been able to produce much. When you watch his brother William Nylander play for the Toronto Maple Leafs, you can’t help but wonder why Alex can’t be doing this.

Like Strome, Nylander has been one of the team’s healthy scratches in the first three games. As mentioned before, all three games are losses. It might be time to give Nylander some ice but they should definitely try getting something for him if another team needs a depth skill forward. It is a shame that this deal didn’t work out for the Hawks but Stan Bowman is almost expected to do this at this point.
