We finally have had a couple of days to sit back and slowly evaluate what went on between the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Most people probably went into the weekend expecting a big Raiders win but the Bears actually pulled off a nice upset by a final score of 20-9. It wasn’t pretty at times but a win is a win.
In the game, there were some nice performances all around. Of course, when the Chicago Bears analysis is happening, Justin Fields is in the middle of it. He made another start in this one and looked very good. They are still slowly working him in but he is clearly a tough kid that is ready to handle playing quarterback at the NFL level.
However, there is one player that stood out above the rest and that is Khalil Mack. He was all over the place throughout the game and had a major impact on defense. He has been the best player on the team for a few years now but he has another gear that he can get to. It was obvious that he wanted to have a big game against the team that traded him away.
Mack led the team in defense. He had seven tackles and one assisted tackle to go with his one sack. It was a marvelous performance that allowed Chicago’s pass rush to make Oakland’s offense miserable. They weren’t able to do much and Mack was a big reason why.
Khalil Mack needs to be one of the best Chicago Bears week in and week out.
As mentioned before, Mack is one of the best players that the team has ever had and he needs to play like it. They pay him a lot of money and they don’t have a lot of cap flexibility because of it. If he can keep having big games like this, then they should really continue to win some games. The worry is the offense but that is a story for a different day.
Mack isn’t the only player on defense that has been having big games. Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn have been outstanding in a lot of ways which has really helped out Mack. This is a defense that is getting older as a competitive unit but they still have what it takes to be great.
Mack was one of the best players on either side vs the Raiders and we need to see that continue. Att 3-2, the Bears see the daunting schedule as an opportunity to prove themselves. The Raiders are a good team that is hard to beat so the Bears are going to be proud of this one. With it being Green Bay Packers week, it would be nice to see this continue for Mack.
