Chicago Blackhawks: 2 players already make Team USA Olympic Squad

The Chicago Blackhawks figure to play a big part in the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. The National Hockey League is sending their players overseas which is going to make the tournament even more fun. Each hockey country is naming three players to their squads early. Team USA named its three players early and there is a lot of Blackhawks flavor right off the bat.

Seth Jones and Patrick Kane were two-thirds of the three initial players named. Jones is a very solid defenseman to add to the team along with one of the best forwards of all time in Patrick Kane. In fact, Kane already has a case to be considered the greatest American hockey player of all time.

Team USA also picked Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs who is the best active American player. When it is all said and done, he might be right there with Kane for the best of all time. Matthews is currently the best goal scorer in the National Hockey League.

Building a team around these three sounds easy but it is going to be incredibly difficult. No matter what, Team USA is going to be a great team because there are great players to choose from. However, competing with Team Canada, Team Sweden, Team Finland, and the Olympic Athletes of Russia is going to be really hard. We can only hope that they are good enough to compete well this time around.

Team USA is going to have a lot of Chicago Blackhawks flavor in the Olympics.

We know that guys like Patrick Kane and Auston Matthews are going to dominate in this tournament. Chicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat is someone that is a legit candidate to join them in their quest for a Gold Medal. The Tkachuk brothers and Hughes brothers are going to be in consideration which would certainly give the team lots of depth.

Young defensemen like Charlie McAvoy and Adam Fox are also hoping they can help Jones manage the blue line. The fun part will be to see which older guys are going to make the team to be more of a veteran presence. Either way, it should be a very good squad.

It is nice to see Jones and Kane be named right off the hop because of the fact that it means they are still seen as elite players. The Hawks are trying to win more games this year so someone other than Kane is going to have to help. Seth Jones is going to be that guy on defense.

There are also other players on the team like Jonathan Toews, Alex DeBrincat, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kevin Lankinen, and Dominik Kubalik that can represent their countries if they play well leading up to the selections. With it being an Olympic year, it is going to make things that much more fun this season.
