Frank Schwindel was awesome for the Chicago Cubs in 2021 following his call-up.

Frank Schwindel did something that is so hard to do. He replaced a local legend during some really hard times to replace him. Anthony Rizzo will always be one of the most beloved players in the history of the Chicago Cubs. When he retires, they might retire his number and build him a statue. That is how important he was to that franchise.

After Rizzo was traded to the New York Yankees, Schwindel knew it was a daunting task. However, he stepped in there and arguably played better than  Rizzo from the trade deadline on. He was so incredible as a 29-year-old rookie that he should be in consideration to be brought back.

He may or may not have a dip in his play next season because his numbers right now are borderline impossible but he brings a lot to the table. He just took home his second straight NL Rookie of the Month honor which is really cool to see.

In 2021, he played in 56 Cubs games. In those games, he slashed .326/.371/.591 for an incredible .962 OPS. Those are MVP caliber numbers if they were over a full season. He had 79 hits, 14 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 44 runs scored. All of that accumulated to a 1.7 WAR. He has done everything he can to stick in the MLB and deserves a chance next season.
