The Chicago Bears should sign Todd Gurley

What’s the worst that could happen here? Honestly — signing a former NFL Offensive Player of the Year who is still just 27 years old (the same age as Drake) couldn’t hurt.

Sure, he’s not the guy he was even three seasons ago. But, at his age, he has some juice left in the tank. Gurley is a true pro who would offer a lot to the Bears in terms of how he could be used. He excellent at catching the football and can still be used around the goal line if needed.

Many believe he is done, but if he could handle 195 carries last season, I’m certain he could handle a few more as a backup. The question is, would he be content with serving as a backup?

Gurley has yet to be signed and, just a couple of seasons after looking like the best running back in football, has fallen off the face of the earth it seems. Still, at his age and with the things he’s accomplished, he would be a fine signing to help bolster the depth. There are a couple of other teams, too, that may look into signing Gurley. Before the season is over, he will likely have a job.

The Bears would probably be more likely to sign someone like Gurley than trade for another back, anyways. So, he makes a lot of sense. Again, what’s the worst that could happen? The Bears sign him to a minimal deal and he indeed shows he doesn’t have much left? The team could live with that, but he seems like a much better bet than either Nall or Pierce.
