The Chicago Bears had a lot of negativity surrounding them during the week leading up to their game against the Detroit Lions. They were so pathetic against the Cleveland Browns in week three that there were people calling for Matt Nagy to be fired. He absolutely deserves that still but he is going to live to fight another week after this win. It is always good to win but this one isn’t one to be so proud of.

The Detroit Lions might be the worst team in the NFL. Dan Campbell might be the only coach in the league worse than Matt Nagy. It was a game that the Bears absolutely needed to win. Chicago has never fired a coach mid-season in franchise history but losing to the Lions might have forced their hand.

Luckily for Nagy, he was at least smart enough to let Bill Lazor take over the play-calling duties. It was clear from the opening drive because they were actually able to move the football. With Justin Fields getting his second career start in a row, it was good to see him have a bit of success.

The most important thing this season is just that. Justin Fields is the present and future of the Bears so developing him is the most important thing. That is one real reason to be happy with this Bears victory. Other than that, it is going to fool some people for a few days.

The Chicago Bears won on Sunday but it isn’t a win to be particularly proud of.

A week after a bunch of negative conversations, people will talk positively about this game. That is fair as a win is a win. However, as mentioned before, it isn’t one to be super proud of. With the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the next three opponents, things are going to get even tougher for Matt Nagy and his staff.

This isn’t the type of game that should just make anyone sure that things are fixed. Matt Nagy still adamantly believes that Andy Dalton is the starter when he is healthy so this can all go south so quickly. His ego could also force him to take play-calling back which would mean that the Bears go back to being terrible on offense.

Detroit now moves to 0-4 with the loss. This is as bad of a team as the Bears will see all season long. It isn’t much of a measuring stick but they can clearly beat the bottom feeders in the league. However, when they play a top team like the Los Angeles Rams or Cleveland Browns, there is little hope. It is going to be interesting to see where they go from here but there is a lot of work to do.
