Chicago Bears: 1 player that needs to keep his good play up

The Chicago Bears‘ defense was really only bad in the first game of the season. The team clearly wasn’t ready to go. We all know how pathetic the offense and coach have been which gives the defense no help as well. The Los Angeles Rams owned them and won the game 34-14. Since then, the defense has looked good over the last two weeks.

If the offense wasn’t so lousy in the third game of the season against the Cleveland Browns, the defense probably would have held them to under 20 points which would make it two weeks in a row doing that to their opponent. The defense was clearly checked out and tired by the end of the game which has become a problem over the last three years as the offense puts them in a terrible position.

There are a lot of players to praise on defense but one specific player has been a pleasant surprise. Robert Quinn was awful in 2020. He wasn’t even slightly worth all of the money or hype that he was given going into the season. However, he is looking to make 2021 his official bounce-back season. So far, he has.

Like the rest of the defense, the first game was a dud. Quinn had 0.5 sacks and one assisted tackle. It looked like it was going to be more of the same from him this year. Luckily, it was just proof that Matthew Stafford is really good in Los Angeles and could win the Super Bowl.

In week two, Quinn had 2.0 sacks and four solo tackles. It was a very good game for him and probably his best in a Chicago Bears uniform. He followed that up with a 1.0 sack, one solo tackle, and one assisted tackle performance against the Browns. If he keeps this up, the Bears defense will continue to have a nice pass rush unit.

The Chicago Bears need to get the most out of Robert Quinn this season.

With the Bears, Quinn doesn’t have to be the lead guy. When he compliments players like Khalil Mack and Akiem Hicks, they will all be in the best possible position to succeed. If this team wants to win some games this year, these guys will need to come up big because we know for sure that the offense can’t score enough points.

Quinn doesn’t need to lead the league in sacks but it would be nice to see him make as much of an impact as he has the last two weeks. There isn’t much to be excited about with this team but you can bank on the defense being okay at a minimum. It would be nice to see Quinn keep this up starting this week against the Detroit Lions.
