The Chicago Blackhawks had a scrimmage game on Tuesday. Team Black had stars like Kirby Dach, Dominik Kubalik, and Marc-Andre Fleury amongst some other really good players. Team Red had names like Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, and Kevin Lankinen along with other great players as well. In overtime of the 1-1 tie, Dach made a sweet play to win the game for Team Black.

Team Black was good but the names on Team Red pop out just a bit more. However, Black battled and Dach made it worth it in overtime. He accepted an awesome pass from Caleb Jones in the overtime period and buried it to end things. Those are the types of plays we need to see from the Blackhawks during the 2021-22 season.

Kirby Dach is one of the most important players in Chicago’s lineup. He is backing up the star players that you already know but his development is a big key. He needs to be a part of the core that takes over for the next decade or more.

If Dach takes a big step, the Hawks are going to be set at the center of the ice this season. They will also be excited to have another really good young forward join guys like DeBrincat and Kubalik. He dealt with some injury trouble last season and was never able t get in a groove. If he is healthy this season, he might be able to explode.

Kirby Dach is a very important player for the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021-22.

As mentioned before, this is a good sign for a Blackhawks team that wants to make the playoffs again. We know what we are going to see from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane so getting that support is very important. Dach may have to lead the charge in that department. It is fair to expect that from the third year of their 2019 number three overall pick.

You might remember when the Blackhawks played the Edmonton Oilers in the “return to play bubble”. Kirby Dach was one of their best players in that series. He looked like the big strong centerman that he was touted to be as a prospect coming in.

If he didn’t sustain a bad injury during the 2020-21 World Juniors, he would have probably taken another big step with the Blackhawks last season. He needs to stay healthy this year in order to do that but it will be easier with a full training camp and 82 game season. Getting this overtime winner in the scrimmage should make him feel good about himself. The next step for Dach is having a very good preseason.
