Chicago Bears: 1 person to blame for Sunday afternoon’s loss
The Chicago Bears had one of the most embarrassing games in the history of their franchise on Sunday. It may sound like an exaggeration but it really isn’t. They lost 26-6. There have been worse blowouts in terms of the final score but they have never looked that pathetic. There are a lot of things to be ashamed of but one thing stands out above the rest.
The offense was a disgusting disgrace. It was the first start in the career of Justin Fields. He was not put into a position to succeed because of his incompetent head coach, Matt Nagy. The head coach deserves all of the blame for this game. If there was anyone competent enough to control an offense there in his place, they would have had a chance to win the game.
The Bears had 47 yards of total offense. One, yes one, of those 47 yards were net passing. Justin Fields went 6/20 with 68 yards. He can’t do anything with Matt Nagy calling plays. When you watch the game, you can clearly see that they can’t get anything going because Justin’s skills aren’t being used the right way.
Of course, everyone always talks about how the Bears historically never fire a coach during the season. Well, now is the time to change that philosophy. Most of their philosophies have been bad for about a century now anyway so it might not hurt to change things up.
The Chicago Bears need their offense to get better fast and it can’t with Matt Nagy.
They need to fire Matt Nagy right now otherwise they are in big trouble. Justin Fields is already headed down the Mitchell Trubisky path which might scare some people. It sounds too premature to say that but it honestly isn’t. The Bears do the same thing decade after decade so unless they start making some changes, nothing will improve. Matt Nagy needs to be gone now.
If Nagy gets fired and they bring in a competent play-caller, they could turn things around really quick. Fields is talented enough to mold into a great football player but he is being held back by his current coach. If they don’t want to stunt his development, they need to get him out of this.
It doesn’t help that the Bears have a terrible offensive line. Justin Fields was sacked more times than the Bears should ever allow happening. Part of that is, yes, Matt Nagy. He can’t adjust to calling plays that get Fields moving to put a band-aid on that bad offensive line. It is just so bad all around from this guy.
The Chicago White Sox (5 runs) almost outscored the Bears (6 points) on Sunday. When the local baseball team scores more than you as a football team, you are in big trouble. The Bears can’t move the ball at all and haven’t been able to much at all during the Matt Nagy era. There is now some proof that it is all his fault.
