The Chicago Bears could bench Eddie Jackson in favor of Deon Bush

The Bears have been fortunate to have had safety Deon Bush for the past five seasons, with the former Miami product now in his sixth year. Each of the past two years in free agency, many had wondered whether or not Bush would sign with another team as he’s shown he is more than capable to fill a starting role.

This is one of the easiest moves the Bears could make early in the season. Desai could send a message to not only Jackson but the entire defense by benching Jackson for a game, in favor of Bush.

He is known as a hard hitting safety who can also make a play on the ball. There is a reason Bush is still with the team and the Bears have not gone after any other true safety depth in the past few years.

While he hasn’t had a ton of opportunity, Bush has performed well in any spot starts he’s had with the Bears. His best short stint came in 2018 when he had to start a couple of games and came up with a sack and a forced fumble in that action.

Over any other option, whether it be signing a free agent or trading for someone, starting Bush is without a doubt the best strategy. If the Bears opt to go a different route, maybe this next one makes sense.
