Chicago Bears: 5 cornerbacks to target ahead of Week 2
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could bring back cornerback Prince Amukamara
One veteran free agent who still doesn’t have a team is former Bears corner Prince Amukamara. He has not played in the regular season since 2019, but was a member of the Saints this summer.. Like Skrine, he knows the guys and could provide some veteran experience.
While he isn’t an ideal option on the outside, veteran Prince Amukamara’s physicality could still help the Bears if he transitioned to the slot. Maybe signing him to the practice squad to begin with would be an option.
Amukamara played three seasons for the Bears and, while he never stood out as a game-changing type of payer, he was mostly serviceable. The one weakness which stood out was in his lack of speed, which is why he probably wouldn’t be suited on the outside anymore.
If Amukamara could transition to the slot, he could end up being a perfect fit there. Heck, he would be worth a try over any of the guys the Bears have in that position right now. It’s gotten ugly, and the Bears are already close to entering desperation mode. Amukamara is at least worth considering.
