Chicago Bears Roster: Quarterback improved in 2021
Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles were the quarterbacks in 2020. Now, Trubisky is gone and Foles is third string. In their place are a veteran who has had plenty of regular season experience and some playoff experience in Andy Dalton, along with rookie Justin Fields.
Dalton is better than both Trubisky and Foles, so the fact that he’s starting isn’t the worst thing in the world. However, Fields is where this group is completely changed.
The Bears have their franchise quarterback in Fields, and he could end up being arguably the best quarterback in team history when it’s all said and done. Right now, it’s just a matter of when he will get his shot.
Head coach Matt Nagy is insistent upon giving Fields time and helping him develop at a reasonable pace. When Fields does take over, though, he is going to provide a spark that has never been seen in Chicago before.
Fans are ecstatic and ready for the change to be made. If we’re being honest, Fields will probably get his shot sooner rather than later — maybe even as soon as Week 3 or Week 4. It’s only a matter of time until the Bears’ offense flips the script on the quarterbacks of years past.
