Chicago Bears Roster: 3 trades with Broncos to bolster cornerback

2. Chicago Bears Roster: Trade for cornerback Ronald Darby
Another sneaky trade the Bears could try to pull off is trading for Ronald Darby. The Broncos signed Darby to a 3-year deal worth $30 million this offseason, which now makes things a little tough. The Broncos have money tied up in both Darby and Kyle Fuller, and after drafting Patrick Surtain Jr., they will end up paying him in the future as well.
Trading Darby means the Broncos could then have Fuller and Surtain on the outside with Callahan in the slot, obviously. For the Bears, Darby would be somewhat of a costly addition, but could prove very valuable. Darby had arguably his best season as a pro last year and finished tied for first in forced incompletions — something Jaylon Johnson also does very well.
A starting duo of Darby and Johnson would look far better than anything the Bears could put on the field right now. Plus, the assurance that they would have both of them for the next few years makes this an attractive trade.
The only hesitation when it comes to Darby is similar to Callahan. Last year was the first season Darby played all 16 games in his 6-year career. The 27-year-old struggled prior to 2020, but proved he could stay on the field last year.
