Chicago Bears Roster Cuts: This is the perfect, final 53-man roster
By Ryan Heckman
Chicago Bears final roster prediction: Secondary, Special Teams
Cornerbacks: Jaylon Johnson, Kindle Vildor, Tre Roberson, Artie Burns, Thomas Graham, Marqui Christian
Welcome to the suck-fest. The Chicago Bears cornerback room is arguably their most pressing need right now. Aside from Jaylon Johnson, the Bears don’t have a single cornerback worthy of starting right now. It’s a tough scene, but hopefully the Bears can find a guy or two from other teams’ cuts in the coming days.
The one player to highlight here is Marqui Christian, though, as he could end up being the team’s starting nickel. From what I saw against Tennessee, Christian looked the part. He was instinctive and constantly near the ball. The Bears even brought him on a blitz at one point where he nearly got home.
Safeties: Eddie Jackson, Tashaun Gipson, Deon Bush, DeAndre Houston-Carson
Chicago’s safety room should be a strength — should be. Assuming Eddie Jackson returns to form, the Bears will be just fine here. Depth is their friend at safety. Deon Bush and DeAndre Houston-Carson have been longstanding backups in Chicago and they know the defense well.
Special Teams: Cairo Santos, Pat O’Donnell, Patrick Scales
Nothing changes here. Cairo Santos is your kicker once again after he was lights out in 2020 and earned an extension with the Bears. Pat O’Donnell is about as average as they come at punter, and Patrick Scales rounds things out as the long snapper.
