The Chicago Blackhawks sending Dylan Strome to the NYR makes a lot of sense.

The Chicago Blackhawks are going to want a decent return if they were to move Dylan Strome. Getting a 2022 second-round pick for him would be great. The one offered for him in this proposal used to belong to the St. Louis Blues. It should be an okay second-rounder if the Blackhawks were to consider a trade like this for him. The Rangers could use a forward that can play multiple positions and Strome would be a great fit.

If this trade went down, the Blackhawks would be reuniting families in the process. Dylan’s older brother Ryan Strome plays a similar role over there in New York. If they each drove a line down the middle, with players like Artemi Panarin, Mika Zibanejad, and Alexis Lafreniere there, they could have some really solid forward depth.

The Blackhawks would be getting that second that formerly belonged to the Blues and it wouldn’t help them for a while. However, it would help them continue adding young players while giving them some cap relief. The Rangers would also still have a second-round pick as they would retain their own by sending away St. Louis’s. It could be a trade that works for both teams in different ways.
