The Chicago Cubs are on the down right now. They recently traded away players like Anthony Rizzo, Javier Baez, and Kris Bryant to three separate teams in order to begin a rebuild. They claim that they aren’t using the word rebuilt but anybody who watches baseball knows what is happening. Those guys led them to championship-level success so it was crazy to see them go.

Now, they are going to turn to a new generation of players. One of those guys is Brennen Davis. A recent change has been made to MLB dot com’s list of top prospects. For the Cubs specifically, Davis has been promoted to the title of their number one prospect.

He was the number two guy before the update but the way he has played this season has forced them to jump him over Brailyn Marquez who is also a very good player. In addition to this, he has also been named as the number fourteen prospect in all of baseball which is really good. Only Davis (14) and Marquez (94) are Cubs players in the top-100.

Davis has been playing out of his mind in 2021. He has hit big home runs in big spots multiple times. His summer is highlighted by hitting two home runs in the Futures Game during All-Star Weekend and winning the MVP of that game. Some elite MLB players have come before him and done things like that. The Cubs are hoping that they get some of that from him.

Brennan Davis of the Chicago Cubs has been dominating the Minors in 2021.

Playing for AA Tennessee, he has had a remarkable season. We don’t know for sure when he is going to make it to AAA but it should be somewhat soon. If it isn’t before the season, it will surely be at the start of 2022. If all goes according to plan, he could be in the MLB by this time next season.

Davis is an outfielder who is considered to be a legit five-tool player. He has a great arm that could allow him to play any outfield position. He also has the speed to go with the power that could lead to him being a 30 homer/30 stolen base type of guy. The Cubs would love to build around a hitter like this kid because he can do it all. When you add in that he is elite defensively, it makes it that much more appealing.

These rankings can always go either way but seeing Brennen Davis skyrocket up to 14th in the MLB should make people very excited. This is a very good player that is going to help the Cubs pull out of this big rebuild that they are going to go through.
