Chicago Blackhawks: 3 new players that will make the biggest impact
Seth Jones is hoping to be that number one defenseman for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The biggest move made by the Chicago Blackhawks this summer was the trade for Seth Jones. In fact, it might be the biggest trade made by any team this offseason. They sent a lot of assets to the Columbus Blue Jackets in order to get him but it was necessary. Not long after landing him, they gave him a long-term contract worth 9.5 million dollars. They are seriously committed to this guy now so he better show up.
Stan Bowman’s job hinges on no single player more than Seth Jones. He has shown in the past that he can be a top-ten NHL defenseman. He didn’t have his best season in 2020-21 but the Columbus Blue Jackets were terrible. Nothing went right for that team when many expected them to be pretty good. Now, Jones will get a breath of fresh air in Chicago.
He is now their number one defenseman and one that they have needed since Duncan Keith started to take steps back. He will also be on the same tea as his brother Caleb Jones so you can hope that rejuvenates him even more. There are some good partners for him to have this year so it will be interesting to see how that all shakes out. Jones is going to get a lot of ice so expect him to take full advantage of it on his new team.
