Chicago Blackhawks: 3 new players that will make the biggest impact
The Chicago Blackhawks need Marc-Andre Fleury to be solid in net for them.
The Chicago Blackhawks needed a veteran goalie to pair with Kevin Lankinen. Well, they went out and got one of the best available. In fact, Marc-Andre Fleury was absolutely the best available goalie for them this offseason. There were worries that he would retire if the Vegas Golden Knights traded him away but he is all in on Chicago.
Fleury is the reigning Vezina Trophy winner as the league’s best goalie. He was so special during the 2020-21 season and it allowed him to take home this special award. The Hawks are hoping that he can replicate some of that as they try to keep the puck out of their own net.
They should be better than recent years at playing in front of their goalie (it’s not that hard to be better than they were) but it will be an adjustment for Fleury as Vegas was elite. He is, however, one of the best goalies at shutting down high danger chances so the Hawks have that going for them. Fleury is one of the best in the history of the sport and the Hawks will be lucky to have him. Expect him to make a major impact on the team going forward.
