Chicago Bears wide receiver Rodney Adams should make this team

For long time Bears fans, this team is in unfamiliar territory. It has been a while since the Bears have had so much talent at wide receiver. Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd should be locks to make the team.

Behind those four, it’s a toss-up. Rookie Dazz Newsome is working his way back from an earlier collarbone injury and should stick around, so that’s five receivers right there. But, then you have Riley Ridley, Javon Wims and Rodney Adams battling it out for the sixth spot.

In two preseason games, Adams has proven he belongs in the NFL. But, what people aren’t seeing is the connection he has behind the scenes with rookie quarterback Justin Fields. The two have connected many times during the course of training camp and have formed a strong relationship.

Adams leads the Bears with seven receptions on 12 targets in two preseason games, 146 yards and a receiving touchdown. His touchdown reception against Buffalo was a beauty. Making the grab when the ball came in on top of the defender’s helmet, coming down and heading off to the races, Adams’ talent was on full display.

After being a fifth-round pick in 2017 and being unable to stick with a team, Adams is coming into his own. He has become a legitimate pro receiver and has to stick. The Bears’ depth, with Adams, is stout.
