Chicago Bears: 5 players who need a big showing vs. Bills
By Ryan Heckman
Saturday, the Chicago Bears have another chance to prove that they made the right call in drafting rookie quarterback Justin Fields — and several other teams made one giant mistake.
Last week against the Miami Dolphins, Fields was the talk of the town as he put a fantastic debut on display.
However, there were also many other reasons to be excited about this Bears team. It’s easy to talk about how great Fields looked in his first NFL action, but if all goes well, Chicago should be a tough team on both sides of the ball — especially when the rookie takes over under center, of course.
Preseason victories are hardly celebrated, but the 20-13 win over Miami seemed to be worth more than others. Considering the Bears were down 13-0 at one point, the comeback felt invigorating regardless of its preseason status. Now, the team has their next chance to impress in exhibition format.
Against the Buffalo Bills, a few particular Chicago Bears will need to step up in a big way.
The Dolphins game answered some immediate questions for the Bears, but as the preseason and training camp continues, the questions get harder and harder. Roster spots become few and far between, and those position battles could get intense.
A few positions, specifically, will require some difficult decisions. The Bears have had some young players step up in camp and in the game against Miami last week, and with positive performances against Buffalo, these players will make it tough on head coach Matt Nagy and his staff.
There are a handful of players who need to play well on Saturday, and for various reasons. Whether or not they’re playing for a job in Chicago, these guys have to show out against the Bills.
