Chicago Blackhawks: 3 players to trade before Training Camp
The Chicago Blackhawks now have the depth to trade Calvin de Haan if they want.
It was a little bit surprising that the Chicago Blackhawks didn’t trade Calvin de Haan before the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline. He was one of the biggest candidates from the organization to be moved and he wasn’t. He has one year left on his current deal so now he is a trade candidate even more.
If they don’t want to wait and see how the team performs before they trade him, they should do it before training camp gets underway. If he starts the season with the team, you can be confident that the Hawks will see what their chances of being a playoff team with him before they move on. If they are clearly not a playoff team by the trade deadline, you can bet he will be moved. When he is on the ice, the Hawks are certainly a better team.
It would be nice to see him get a chance to play on a blue line that has the likes of Seth Jones, Connor Murphy, Caleb Jones, and some of the young guys. That depth makes him a player that could be traded at any time based on his contract but having him would be nice too. Either way, he is a candidate from the active roster to be traded at any time.
None of these guys are guaranteed to be moved at all but they are all good candidates. The Hawks could get back something valuable for any of them if they do things the right way so they might as well consider it. After the changes that have been made so far this offseason, they are all expendable for different reasons.
