The Chicago Blackhawks might be better off trading Alex Nylander at this point.

The Chicago Blackhawks just signed Alex Nylander to a contract extension last week. He is going to have a cap hit of 847,125 dollars for the season. It isn’t a big investment but they should try and get something else out of him. They traded Henri Jokiharju to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Nylander and that trade was another in a long list of bad ones made by Stan Bowman.

Nylander was a top ten pick in his draft because of how talented he is. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like that talent is ever going to get him anywhere in the NHL. The Blackhawks have so many forwards who deserve top minutes over him and having him there might take that possibility away. The trade was a failure and it is time to accept it.

Nylander might be able to go to yet another team and have success but the Hawks are trying to win again. Whether they succeed or not, Nylander won’t have anything to do with it in the grand scheme of things. If they can get an extra draft pick or mid-level prospect for him, they should consider it right away. It would probably make them a better team instantly to make a move like this.
