Marquise Goodwin must show the Chicago Bears he’s worthy of the no. 3 receiver job

Last but certainly not least is the guy who might just be the fastest player on the Bears, and that’s saying something with the team’s newfound speed. Adding Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd to an offense featuring Tarik Cohen and Darnell Mooney gives the unit plenty of blazing speed to work with.

On the team’s first unofficial depth chart, Goodwin was listed as the Bears’ no. 3 receiver. That means he will likely play the slot but also that he could play some extended time against the Dolphins once Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney take a seat.

Goodwin did not play last season and was last seen with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2019 season. He looked like he could be a big breakout candidate prior to that year after putting up a career season in 2017. But, Goodwin’s targets went down significantly and he couldn’t stay healthy for a full season.

Now attempting to somewhat embrace a career resurgence, Goodwin could play a big part in the offense. He and Mooney, specifically, could be guys who really test defensive backs deep. If Goodwin can come out and prove he didn’t lose much after taking last season off and make a few plays, the Bears will feel that much more confident about him taking on a big role this year.
