The Chicago Bears could include Darnell Mooney in a trade for Michael Thomas

This trade might even hurt more, initially, than dealing Robinson because Darnell Mooney is a part of this team’s future. But, trading Mooney in a deal for Thomas would be about one thing and one thing only: developing Justin Fields.

To get a surefire, Pro Bowl wide receiver for the next few years to help Fields’ development would be invaluable. Again, no one knows where Robinson will end up next year or whom the Bears would be able to get to replace him. Mooney very well might be the Bears’ no. 1 guy next year.

This would be a costly trade, giving up yet another first-round pick after already trading one in the deal to get Fields. But, once Thomas is healthy and on the field, it would be worth it for Fields.

Not to mention, could you imagine seeing Robinson and Thomas on the field at the same time? What a nightmare. Matt Nagy would almost be forced to throw Fields in there if he hadn’t already. That team could be a sneaky group ready to win right now, depending upon how the defense fares this season.

Next year, the Bears would then have to find another secondary option to Thomas. But, that’s not as difficult as replacing a top-tier wideout like Robinson.
