Chicago Bears: 3 players to trade for cornerback C.J. Henderson
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears could include Danny Trevathan in a trade for C.J. Henderson
This one is a bit of a wildcard, especially given Danny Trevathan’s salary. But, a $5.9 million cap hit isn’t too bad. Trevathan has been up and down over the last two seasons with the Bears, but when healthy is still a good player in this league.
The fact that the Bears have seen such a huge boost from veteran Alec Ogletree in camp might make Trevathan ultimately expendable. I know, it sounds crazy. But, Ogletree is clearly out to prove he still belongs in this league, and wants to earn a starting job somehow. He won’t earn that over Roquan Smith, of course. But, if he continues to make huge plays in camp and show out in the preseason, maybe he gives Trevathan a run for his job.
Trevathan is still capable of starting in this league, and could help a pretty young Jaguars team with his experience and leadership. If the Jaguars want to move on next year, they can. Trevathan is in the last year of his contract.
If the Bears included him in a deal, they would still probably have to offer a pick to go with Trevathan. Let’s say the Jaguars were willing to part with Henderson for Trevathan and a future fourth rounder, then the Bears should give that a shot.
