The Chicago Bears could include Tarik Cohen in a trade for C.J. Henderson

While many people may believe this would be a questionable move, it does make sense. First of all, let’s establish the fact that the Bears want to give David Montgomery 20 carries per game. That might not quite happen every game, but we’ve heard all about the philosophy when it comes to Montgomery this coming season.

If Montgomery is soaking up the bulk of the touches at running back, Cohen won’t be in the back field too much. If we’re talking about his gadget ability, sure he is an exciting player. But, the Bears also added speed to the back field with Damien Williams — who is healthy, by the way. Cohen’s knee still isn’t fully cleared.

Williams has looked great in camp and is known for catching the football. Plus, the Bears added speed at wide receiver. With Marquise Goodwin and Damiere Byrd joining Darnell Mooney, the Bears have tons of speed on offense at every level.

That brings us back to Cohen. With the amount of speed the Bears have, how much room will there be for Cohen? Trading Cohen for a potential future starter at cornerback would be well-worth the gamble, especially noting Cohen’s health status and the amount of talent the Bears have added.
