The Chicago Bears could sign offensive tackle Marshall Newhouse

One of the cheaper options, and more of just a camp body at this stage in his career, would be veteran journeyman Marshall Newhouse. Since his career began back in 2011, Newhouse has played for eight different teams. However, he’s remained in the league and has been a starter for the majority of his career.

Last year with the Tennessee Titans, he only appeared in four games. The year prior, he started nine games for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. He’s been mostly a reserve lineman the last couple of seasons, aside from his action in New England.

The last time Newhouse came into a season as his team’s starting tackle was back in 2017, when he started 17 games for the Oakland Raiders. Bears fans may remember him from back when he began his career with the Green Bay Packers. Newhouse spent his first three NFL seasons starting in front of Aaron Rodgers.

At this point, it’s unclear whether or not Newhouse wants to continue playing. But, if the Bears extended him a minimum offer and he accepted, Newhouse would be a solid camp body. He’s a guy who has been around long enough to provide Chicago with an experienced veteran in camp, and just might make the final roster as a reserve.
