Chicago Bulls: Honest grades through Day 2 of NBA free agency
By Ryan Heckman
What an absolute whirlwind it’s been. For the last 48 hours, the Chicago Bulls have gone to work in a big way.
NBA free agency opened its doors and, immediately, the Bulls began making moves. Vice President Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley, or as they’re now known, “AKME,” wasted zero time in improving this roster.
The large realization came when fans began to understand what the current starting five looks like now versus how it looked even just two years ago under Jim Boylen, Gar Forman and John Paxson. The starting five in which Billy Donovan now has the privilege to work with is a stark difference.
The Bulls have long waited for a moment like this. It has been far too many years since fans could be excited about a Bulls offseason, their additions (even through the draft) and an upcoming season.
After the first wave of NBA free agency, the Chicago Bulls are singing a different tune.
No longer are fans having to settle for consolation prizes in free agency. This week has proven just that. Karnisovas and Eversley have gotten the guys they set out to land.
Many times, fans hear and read rumors about their teams being interested in certain players only to see those players head in a different direction. It’s one thing to continuously read that the Bulls are a rumored destination for some guys in particular, but it’s another to actually see it happen.
This week, we’ve had the exciting privilege of seeing it happen. Through the first two days of free agency, the Bulls’ roster now looks much different than it did at the beginning of the week. Each one of the three players added should help, but just how strong of a grade should Chicago receive for all three?
