Coby White is going to be helped by Lonzo Ball joining the Chicago Bulls.

When you sign a guy for four years and give him north of $21 million per year, you don’t make him come off the bench. Ball will be the clear starting point guard for the team and will play a healthy amount of time on the floor.

Coby White did not have an excellent sophomore season with the Bulls. While White proved to be an effective scorer, averaging over 15 points per game, his inefficiencies on defense and working at the point guard position showed — leading to his demise of being benched for Satorasnky.

Ball reflects the strengths that are White’s weaknesses like defense, facilitating, and physicality. That means White will have to be used to coming off the bench next season. Moreover, he may have to be used to playing on the wing without the ball if second-round draft pick Ayo Dosunmu rises in the ranks and backs up Ball.

Luckily for the Bulls organization, White continued to thrive on offense when he was benched for Satoransky. Unlike Markkanen, White embraced his role for coming off the bench and continued to help the Bulls on offense. He will have to do the same next season once Ball takes on the reigns of starting point guard.
