Chicago Bulls realistic free agent point guard options: Spencer Dinwiddie
Back in 2016, the Bulls had their hands on point guard Spencer Dinwiddie for a short time. However, after being cut and re-signed, then cut again, he spent some time with their D-League affiliate before being signed by the Brooklyn Nets.
The former Windy City Bull is set to hit free agency, and the Bulls could end up making the right call this time around by keeping him in Chicago. He is without a doubt one of the best options for the Bulls in free agency, so long as he isn’t part of another potential sign-and-trade before the craziness begins on Monday.
With Kyrie Irving now in Brooklyn, Dinwiddie is no longer needed. He will be paid like a starter elsewhere, which Brooklyn cannot afford to do.
One of the rumored teams for Dinwiddie was the Los Angeles Lakers, but after they traded for Russell Westbrook, Dinwiddie is no longer an option for L.A. That helps Chicago’s chances to sign Dinwiddie in a big way.
Adding the 6-foot-5 point guard would be another one of those moves which would make the Bulls a playoff team immediately. Before getting hurt after just three games last season, Dinwiddie broke out in 2019-2020.
Over his breakout season, Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds with the Nets.
