Chicago Bulls Free Agency: Top 5 realistic point guard options

Chicago Bulls realistic free agent point guard options: Dennis Schröder
One of the more polarizing names on the point guard market this summer is Dennis Schröder, who spent last year with the Los Angeles Lakers. Schröder began his career with the Atlanta Hawks, playing five seasons there.
He then played a pair of seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder under then-coach Billy Donovan. It is for this reason Schröder is connected to the Bulls, having played for Donovan in the past. One of Schröder’s best season as a pro came in his second year with Oklahoma City, where he averaged 18.9 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds off the bench.
Though he’s only been a consistent starter for three seasons over his career, Schröder is going to be looking for a contract between $100-$125 million. The Lakers are the one team which can offer him a five-year deal, therefore he may end up right back with L.A. However, the opportunity to play for Donovan once again is a big factor, here.
The main question for the Bulls is, do they really want to pay that kind of money to a point guard as inconsistent as Schröder? He is not a threat from beyond the arc, nor does he shoot the ball particularly well in general (43.7 percent from the field in 2020-2021). Schröder is also an average defender, as well. There may be better fits that could cost the same, if not less.
