Chicago Cubs: 3 last minute Kris Bryant trades to make before deadline
The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox could work something out for Kris Bryant.
Kris Bryant is an absolutely great player. Everyone knows it, including the team on the other side of town in the Chicago White Sox. That team has been dismantled by injuries so far in 2021 and they have still figured out a way to win baseball games. They currently lead the AL Central by 8.0 games thanks to their 60-43 record. They are slowly starting to get healthier which will improve their chances at a division title even more.
These two teams have already made a deal this year. The White Sox sent Bailey Horn to the Cubs in exchange for Ryan Tepera. The reliever is going to help the White Sox bullpen take another step towards being an elite group before the playoffs.
If they can pull off another big deal, Jonathan Stiever, Jake Burger, and Jimmy Lambert would be a great haul for the Cubs. Lambert and Stiever are both pitchers for the Cubs to work with which would be really nice for them. Jake Burger is a great offensive third baseman that can also play some other positions as well.
It is hard to ever see Burger have the same ceiling as Bryant but he could still be a nice replacement for him. He is also a great story as he has battled back to baseball after dealing with some pretty nasty injuries in his career. He was a first-round pick for a reason so the Cubs would love to have a player like that. If the Cubs do decide to move their All-Star utility guy, these trades might be along the lines of what it looks like.
