The Chicago Cubs might get a haul from the New York Mets for Kris Bryant.

Trading Kris Bryant to the New York Mets would be the best-case scenario for the Chicago Cubs. They are the team that is most likely to overpay for him. They have a 3.5 game lead in the NL East right now but the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves believe that they can come back. Adding someone like Kris Bryant could go a long way for them. He would be able to go there and solidify their batting order while playing good defense at multiple positions.

As mentioned before, the Chicago Cubs desperately need to develop pitching. They have been pathetic at doing that during the Theo Epstein/Jed Hoyer era. Epstein is gone but Hoyer has taken over so it is time for him to make that right. Getting some great talent back in these trades might help with that. If they can be better at that part of the game, the rebuild might not take as long as people think.

This trade is the Cubs receiving all pitchers from the Mets. Matt Allan is currently their number three prospect and J.T. Ginn is currently their number six prospect. They are both right-handed pitchers that make this trade worth it alone. Adding in Marcel Renteria as someone to take a flier on is also smart because you just never know.
