When the Chicago Bears were able to land Khalil Mack three years ago prior to the 2018 season, he invigorated the defense with a full head of steam.

Fans were more excited than they had been in years. The Bears traded for a true game-changer in Mack, and he proved just that in Week 1 versus the Green Bay Packers. From that opening whistle in his very first start with the Bears, Mack let everyone know what he was capable of doing.

Since the 2018 season, Mack’s numbers have been down a bit. His production has seemed unusually lower than what fans were expecting. Although Mack is still recognized as one of the league’s top edge rushers, his 2020 season did not see him as feared as he once was.

Going into the 2021 season, though, that’s all about to change. Mack was asked Wednesday about whether injuries impacted him last year and whether or not he feels they hampered his production. He didn’t have much to say in response, but what he did say should strike fear into the hearts of opposing quarterbacks across the Bears’ schedule.

Khalil Mack is ready to wreak havoc once more for the Chicago Bears.

While short and simple, Mack’s response was more than good enough. He told reporters he’s an “actions guy.”

It would make fans feel all warm and fuzzy had Mack went into more detail about how he’s excited and motivated for 2021, feeling 100 percent and ready to return to form, etc. But, he’s one of those guys who can keep it fairly simple and speak volumes while doing so.

“I’m not gonna say s***. I’m gonna show you.”

When a player of Mack’s stature says he’s an “actions guy,” you pay attention. He’s one everyone should listen to. After all, he’s single-handedly wrecked games in recent years and the entire league knows just what could be coming if Mack wants it to happen.

This is a guy who is stronger than most, more skilled than most and likely more motivated than ever. He’s not deaf to the fact that people are touting his mediocre sack numbers over the past couple of seasons as reason to believe the Bears may have actually lost the original trade.

What nonsense that type of argument is. The Bears did not lose that trade — far from it, in fact.

Mack is a generational talent, and while his sack numbers may not have shown it in the past two seasons, most experts still agree that he is one of the best in the business.

Pro Football Focus rated Mack as the no. 6 overall player in the NFL after the 2020 season. So, just in case the talking heads decide to undermine Mack’s effect on each and every snap, know that the wiser minds have not lost just that — their minds.

If Mack tells us he’s going to show us something this season, we listen. It’s time to let his play do the talking. The 2021 version of Mack may be the most terrifying version we’ve seen yet.
