The Chicago Cubs might be willing to trade Anthony Rizzo in a one-for-one deal.

The Boston Red Sox called up Jarren Duran a few weeks ago. He is currently listed as their number three prospect. He is an outfielder with a very high ceiling in Major League Baseball. He has performed okay since coming up but you have to wonder if they would trade him away for a shot at the trophy this season. Anthony Rizzo might provide a better chance for them in the short term.

If the Cubs had this offer on the table and didn’t take it, they would be foolish. Duran would come to Wrigley Field and breathe some life into this organization. He is going to have his struggles as he adjusts to Major League pitching. That shows in his .154 batting average right now. He does have one home run which shows that he has already displayed some power in his 26 at-bats. The Cubs would be wise to see what type of potential he can bring.

Getting a high-level prospect for Anthony Rizzo at this point in the season is not a guarantee. The Cubs are in a tough spot with him, Javier Baez, and Kris Bryant. If a team like the Boston Red Sox is willing to give up a top prospect like Duran but make it a one-for-one deal, the Cubs have to do it. If Passan’s report comes true and trade does go down, it is going to be so strange seeing him in another uniform.
