The Chicago Cubs might want some MLB-ready players in exchange for Anthony Rizzo.

The Chicago Cubs are in the market for some MLB-ready talent. They aren’t going to get superstars back for Rizzo as he is an aging star on an expiring contract. Michael Chavis and Bobby Dalbec would be good returns for someone like Rizzo. Both of them can play multiple positions including the void at first base that will be left by Rizzo. Each of them brings something different and would remain with the team for a long time

Neither of them is having an outstanding season here in 2021 but they both have shown flashes of brilliance earlier in their MLB careers. They are the reason that the Cubs might send Rizzo to the Red Sox because Boston doesn’t have the time to worry about development right now. The Cubs would be better off for these guys as they try to develop into their MLB careers.

Rizzo makes perfect sense to play first base in these guys’ spot for the Red Sox. They need a bat like his playing that position if they are going to succeed. In return, a change of scenery might do these two well as they try to become everyday MLB first baseman as well. It is a risky trade for sure but they might have a hard time finding a better return of MLB players at this stage of the game.
