Chicago Bulls second round point guard targets: Miles McBride, West Virginia

If there is one second-round point guard that’s perfect for the Bulls, right now, it would be Miles McBride out of West Virginia. At the moment, he’s likely to go early in the second round and might even sneak into the first.

McBride stands 6-foot-2 and possesses a long, athletic frame. His length especially allows him to be a force on the defensive end. He is, without a doubt, a kid who plays both ways. He’s the type of point guard the Bulls need and has some similarities to that of Lonzo Ball whom the Bulls are rumored to be interested in, as well.

As a guy who doesn’t back down defensively, McBride averaged 1.9 steals per game last season. What’s impressive, here, is that he only posted 1.7 fouls per game. He’s a physical, lanky defender who knows how to do his job well without getting into trouble.

McBride not only offers the Bulls a sound defender off the bench, but a player who can score from the mid-range as well. He has a fairly strong jump shot and can even fill it up from deep (41.4 percent from three-point range in 2020-2021).

Last season, McBride averaged 15.9 points, 4.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and of course nearly two steals per game in 34 minutes per night. He would come in and compete for backup minutes initially, but may weave his way into the true backup point guard spot down the line, depending on how long Coby White sticks around.
