We finally made it to the 2021 NHL Draft. It is a lot later this year than we are used to seeing but it has finally arrived. The Chicago Blackhawks have the 12th overall pick. They are, however, going to take the 11th player due to the fact that the Arizona Coyotes have forfeited their pick. That isn’t the best pick to have in the draft because they weren’t bad enough to be in the lottery and they weren’t good enough to be in the playoffs.

Luckily for them, they are going to be able to get a good player there if they are good at their jobs. This draft is very unpredictable because of the lack of depth combined with the COVID-19 pandemic making it harder to scout players. There is one player, in particular, that would fit what they are doing if all works out.

Obviously, if one of the top players in the draft somehow falls to them, then they won’t draft this player. Even if someone like Kent Johnson falls to them, they might consider him. If none of that happens, they should consider drafting Aatu Raty out of Finland. He is a great young player that has some serious upside.

Raty is a forward that you would consider versatile. He has great puck handling skills and he can shoot the puck as well. He isn’t afraid to go to the front of the net and take a beating either which is an incredibly valuable asset. If he came to a team like the Hawks, he would eventually play with players that can take advantage of such skills.

The Chicago Blackhawks need to get a good player in the first round of the 2021 Draft.

His stock in the draft is interesting. You shouldn’t be surprised if he lands anywhere from pick 10-25. It is a different type of draft due to the reasons that were detailed above. If he is sitting there for the Hawks, they might consider taking a chance on him. The payoff could be huge. He was ranked much higher at one point but has taken a step back in the rankings.

There is a chance that he finds what makes him so good in the NHL. If that were to happen, the Hawks would look great for it. He is a left-shot centerman that still has a lot of growing to do but he should be able to get there soon. The fact that the Hawks could use some help down the middle going forward also makes him someone to consider. If they choose a player like this, they will be happy for it years down the line.
